Abstract

This article is devoted to the problem of using reports of rural deans as a source of information about the daily life of the Orthodox parish in the years of the Great War and Civil war. The author of this article concludes that content of the reports of rural deans is more informative than that of official documents written by superior officials. In addition, these documents are much more informative in comparison with samples of official journalism. The reports of deans say about some unique facts, which are missed in documents, which are stored in central archives. They contain data about interrelations between clergymen and believers. They say much about internal parish conflicts. Many authors of reports were good informed about private life of parishioners.
