The acticle is focused on the activity of the village priest, which was connected with his participation in the system of petty loans in the middle of the 1660s. The comparative analysis of information from deeds, scribe books and census books allows us to investigate relations between the peasantry and their eldermen, the role of cleric's family and to estimate the position of olonets military commanders towards the case. It becomes obvious that the priest and members of his family were ones of the most prosperous persons in Syamozero and Veshkelitsa districts at the pogost of Olonets. The olonets military commander used the status of the priest as a pastor for solving administrative tasks.Downloads
