NEW DATA ABOUT HISTORICAL GEOGRAPHY OF RZHEVA VOLODIMEROVA LANDS

Abstract

The article is devoted to basic topics of medieval historical geography of Rzheva Volodimerova area («the prince Dmitriy Ivanovich half» that is situated on the right bank of the Volga river). The study is based on historical source and historical geography analysis of the cadaster book of Rzheva area of 1588–1589. This source is almost unknown for scholars yet. The description of geography of «volosty», localization of the frontier between Rzheva and Lithuania in the XV–XVI centuries are discussed. Anespecial attention is paid to the question of the territory and date of several adjunctions (so called «pripisi»), which considerably enlarged the territory of Rzheva in the 2nd half of the XVIth century.
