Abstract

The author examines the economic life and management Paleostrovsky monastery in the second half of XVII - the first third of the XVIII century. - In the period after the destruction of the Monastery of the Old Believers, and refutes the perception that the monastery was fading. The author analyzes the relations existing between the monks and the local community, and notes that one of the ways to restore and support the monastery were donations - contributions. The characteristics of depositors and shows that most of them were farmers, besides the monastery found support in the face of the clergy, influential members of the local administration, wealthy merchants and landowners from other counties. It is noted that the restoration of the monastery helped support the state.
