ORPHANED COURTS IN THE LEGISLATION OF THE RUSSIAN EMPIRE

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the legislation of the Russian empire on the aspect of orphaned courts activities. The basic law act designated to estab-lish orphaned courts was «Uchregdenie o guberniah» dated 1775. In this re-spect the article highlights several turning points: ministerial reform 1802 – 1811, Alexander II Great reforms (judicial 1864 and city 1870 reforms). The author draws attention to the problem of a departmental accessory of orphaned courts. The author revealed contradictions between structure and functions of these establishments and power verticals they belong.
