Abstract

The article raises the topical issue of the introduction of compulsory study of the native language and literature, which is provided by the Federal state educational standards of primary and basic general education of the new generation. The author analyzed the materials of the public discussion of the projects in terms of the study of native languages in general school. The inconsistency of opinions and discussion of the issue did not allow to fully justify the expediency of the declared discipline in the mandatory part of the curriculum. At the same time, taking into account the importance of preserving traditions, developing the system of ethno-cultural education and upbringing, the need to involve students in the study of their native languages within the school curriculum is recognized
