Abstract

This article is based on the materials of home reading which presented in the textbooks of the theory and the technique of teaching Russian in the beginning of the twentieth century. The detailed study of the views of the scientists and methodologists of this period gives an opportunity to form an idea of the history of the technique of home reading in 1900-1917 and pick out the ideas which can be used in the technique of teaching reading in a modern comprehensive school
