This article deals with the development of creative abilities as the main factor in the learning process. Improvisation plays the most important role in training. It helps pupils learning how to play a musical instrument not to lose interest and motivation but to perform and make music, and to feel like being a composer. The article addresses the problems which arise before a music teacher and a pupil at improvisation classes. Such classes are theoretical and practical at the same time. The author of the article considers that the knowledge of the external and internal characteristics of improvisation can help to understand it and its process better. In the conclusion the Miltonyan-Shatkovsky system for developing children's improvisation abilities is analyzed and its effectiveness in working with different age groups of pupils is stressed. The author also draws our attention to the necessity of taking into account a child's individual characteristics and peculiarities while teaching musical improvisation.Downloads
