Abstract

The article is devoted the type of Russian temporal rings of 13th – 16th centuries with the shaped blade in a form of bird. The finds from the burial sites and settlements of the North-East and North-West of Russia are considered. The shape features and chronology of this type of jewelry are characterized. During the 13th – 14th centuries there are the temporal rings with schematic crunchy finishes, including coarse casting. In the 15th – 16th centuries the more detailed varieties with loops in the lower part of crunchy finishes were used. The women's jewelry is considered with the image of birds originating from the archaeological sites of the South-Eastern Europe, the Volga region, Crimea, Caucasus, belonging to various ethno-territorial groups of the population of Eurasia of the 8 th – 15th centuries. The analogies among the jewelry of the Caucasus of the 18th – 19th centuries, as well as similar motifs of birds in Russian ethnographic costume are given. It is concluded that the Russian temporal rings with a bird figure appeared in the women's dress were the result of the long perception, processing and alloy of eastern and local traditions in the culture of Russian lands of the 13th – 16th centuries.
