Abstract

The article is devoted to monasteries, churches and church and monastic land ownership in Toropetsky district in the 16th – first half of the 17th century. There is a small number of monasteries (5) and temples, as well as a modest amount of church and monastic land ownership. The author explains this by the border position of this territory as part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Moscow State (border conflicts in the Toro-Petsk land at the end of the 15th – beginning of the 16th century) and the predominance of black lands with a relatively well-established by the be-ginning of the 16th century. volost and parish system. The complete absence of Smolensk, Pskov, Novgorod and other Russian monasteries in the district is emphasized. Autr shows an increase in the number of churches in the first half of the 16th century. and connects this with the development of local land ownership in the county - most of the temples are located in the northern half of the county, affected in the 16th century. local distributions. It is noted that there is no significant decline in the meager church and monastery economy after the Smutnoe Vremja.
