Abstract

The article characterizes parish life in the Kalinin diocese in 1950 on the basis of the memoirs of the "children of war", annual reports of churches, deans and the Kalinin diocesan administration. The reflection of various aspects of parish life in sources is compared, problematic points in the life of religious communities are identified, proposals for the normalization of church life received "from the field" are analyzed. The advantage of church reporting over the memories of eyewitnesses in terms of the accuracy of details and completeness of the picture of parish life in the Kalinin diocese in the middle of the XX century is stated, the conclusion is made about the fundamental similarity of the evidence of the sources used and the need for their joint analysis.
