Abstract

This article analyzes the events of 1905 in Tver province. The author identifies the causes and mechanisms of the development of revolution-ary actions at individual enterprises in Tver and Tver province. Evidence of the largest protest actions is given, and methods of suppressing the actions of workers and peasants are described. The dependence of protest activity and indicators of social ill-being of the population on the eve of the revolution is shown. It is noted that some workers did not support the strike movement. The unresolved agrarian question made the village susceptible to revolutionary agitation. Peasant performances became a mass phenomenon. It is concluded that the revolutionary protests in December 1905, despite their failure, indicated the level of social tension and demonstrated the need to regulate labor relations and change labor legislation.
