Abstract

The article for the first time examines the personal composition of the government office (assembly house) of Tver. On the basis of the analysis of cadastres and census books, acts, documents of Order-in-charge prikaz and other sources the names of the majority of local clerks were revealed. In the first quarter of XVII century prikazes of Tver were headed mostly by dyaks (chief clerks), and then by «acting» podyachys. Before the late 1660s the positions of «acting» podyachys were held by natives of Tver, and later by headquarters’ officers sent from Moscow for a year or two. In the 1690s the representatives of Tver clergy, nobility and the upper class of posad managed to return the previous system. Social origin of Tver podyachys was very varied: among them were the descendants of «servitors by birth», of townspeople and clergy. In Tver the forming of individual dynasties of prikaz officers began to the full only in the late XVII – early XVIII century.
