Abstract

Among the numerous and remarkable galaxy of Tver local historians (A.K. Zhizhevsky, P.F.Simson, V.I. Kolosov, V.A. Pletnev, M.V. Rubtsov, I.A. Vinogradov) the name I.A. Ivanova takes a worthy place. His activity was multifaceted: local history, museology, collecting and archaeological activities aimed at preserving the history of the Tver land. However, it remains little known even among specialists. Of great importance for the commission's activity was a longterm and fruitful relationship with the outstanding historian and enlightener of the Russian province S.F. Platonic. A number of Tver local historians corresponded with him. This epistolary layer remains not put into scientific circulation, with the exception of the published letters of S.F. Platonov. Therefore, the publication of letters of I.A. Ivanov in 1917 will make it possible to fill in the unknown pages of their interaction.
