The author of the article, using a wide range of archival and published sources, shows that A. Bogdanov was not only a theorist of proletarian culture, but also took part in the activities of Proletkul’t. His articles were regularly published in the journal «Proletarian Culture», as a mem-ber of the editorial board of this body he participated in the discussion of articles, as a member of the Central Committee of Proletkul’t he was engaged in resolution of internal conflicts, spoke at conferences of Pro-letkul’t. Proletkul’t did not consist only of Bogdanov followers, but he had to be responsible for the leftist excesses of Proletkul’t, and the shadow of «Bogdanovshchina» was hanging over the organization. The author of the article comes to the conclusion that the true reasons of Bol’shevik authorities actions against Proletkul’t were not «Bogdanov's distortions of Marxism», but the desire of the organization to independ-ence, to bring up new leaders from the workers.Downloads
