Abstract

The article is an analysis of the information potential of documents of the UN human rights treaty bodies as sources for the study of gender in Tropical Africa in historical and anthropological studies. The article pre-sents specific types of sources related to international legal acts, their structure and purpose are described, the most representative materials for historical and anthropological discourse are identified. The author con-siders the possibilities of sources both within the framework of directly gender studies, and in the context of an intersectional approach, involving a combination of several directions in the study. The author made conclusions about the high degree of information potential of this type of sources, identified the problems of their analysis and methods of data verification.
