Abstract

Georgy Vladimirov 's peer-reviewed monograph is devoted to the one of the most common categories of decorations in the Eastern and Southern Europe of the 13th-14th centuries – the question mark shaped earrings. The author identified and introduced into the research field the finds of these decorations on the territory of Bulgaria, make their typology, de-termined the range of distribution and chronology. The researcher, attracting the findings of the question mark shaped earrings in a wide territory from Hungary and the Balkans to Siberia and stating the Turkic origin of these decorations, associates the fashion of the question mark shaped earrings in Danubian Bulgaria with the Cumans living here in the 13th centuries and the influence of the culture of the Golden Horde in the 14th century, with the weakened political and cultural influence of the Byzantine factor.
