Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of restoring the text of lost epigraphic inscriptions of the period of Moscow Russia. The author examines the methodological principles of restoring the text of a lost inscription of 1693 from Nikolskaya Slobola of the Trinity Makaryev Kalyazin Monastery, it is known from two publications of the late XIX century. As the main principle of the text reconstruction, the author proposes to use prosopographic analysis, as well as analysis of the inscription form with parallel verification of the historical realities mentioned in it for compliance with the chronology of the monument. The author shows that the form of the inscription under study repeats the structure of similar epigraphic monuments that are contemporary to it, and at the same time has its own characteristics, they are connected with the replacement of the foundatio formula with sacrificatio.
