Abstract

This review is devoted to the critic of the Bik-Bulatovs’ book about the image of Russian Orthodox priest in Russian and Soviet literature. The peculiarity of the book is that main authors’ attention is directed towards the classical Russian literature, but, according to critics’ opinion, the main subject of such a study should be the reflection of the image of the Or-thodox priest not in the ‘high’ culture, but in the ‘low’, mass culture. Un-fortunately, Bik-Bulatov failed to make a research on some very im-portant topics. For example, he didn’t mention the discussion about the poor conditions of the ordinary priest’s life in the era of Great Reforms.
