Abstract

The systematization of information from sources and contributions to the findings of historians make it possible to partly change the perception of the role of Tver in the Moscow dynastic war of the second quarter of the 15th century. Contrary to the opinion that Tver had no interest in any particular candidate, the facts show unequivocal support of the princes of the Galich house in the 1930s. Undoubtedly, the prevailing view that Tver used the civil war to improve its geopolitical position is true, but there are no solid grounds for asserting that it contributed to stirring it up. After the end of the struggle for power in Lithuania, which caused Tver’s sympathy for the Galich house, it tried to determine and support the win-ner in the Moscow dynastic war, basing on the fact that it would have to maintain relations with the winner in the future.
