Abstract

In the article author using specific example reveals some of the characteristic weaknesses and shortcomings of modern Russian historiography. Among them are theoretical and methodological helplessness, historiographic and source-study non-professionalism. However, some authors try to imitate “scientific” abilities with the help of “modern” terminology. All this affected the approach to the “fashionable” theme – the history of everyday life during the First World War. It is also shown how in this case the simplest local plots are issued for some all-Russian tendencies, and everyday collisions – for some generalizations. In general, “provincial” history is sometimes set out without taking into account key all-Russian phenomena.
