Abstract

The monograph by the well-known Bulgarian historian, professor of the Velikytyrnovsky University named after Saints Cyril and Methodius I. Tyutiundzhieva, published in 2017, is being reviewed. The author not only summarized the results of thirty years of research on the history of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and Velikotyrnovskaya Metropolia, but also deeply explored historical contexts. The main subjects of this work: the conquest of Bulgaria by the Ottomans and its consequences, administrative, demographic and ecclesiastical changes in the Bulgarian lands of the 15th-17th centuries, the development of the economy of the village and the city, the processes of religious and national discrimination, the situation of denominations in the Bulgarian empire, anti-Ottoman resistance, cultural The development of Bulgarian lands and their relationship with the Greek Orthodox world.
