DEVELOPMENT OF THE LANDOWNER ENTERPRISES IN THE SMOLENSK PROVINCE IN THE 1830-1850th.

Abstract

On the basis of published and archival sources the article analyzes the dynamics of development of landlord enterprises in Smolensk province in the 1830–1850s. Interesting material contains the articles of landlords-innovators, which published in the periodical branch press of that time, the catalogs and indexes of agricultural and industrial exhibitions. The personal archives of the landowners have a great value. The richest fund of them belonged to Baryshnikov. It is in the State Archives of the Smolensk Region. As a result of the study it was possible to find out that a significant part of the landowner production of the Smolensk province in the 30s–50s. XIX century was closely associated with agriculture and livestock. The greatest number of the enterprises belonged to distilling branch. The enterprises, which are not directly related to agriculture, have used new forms of business, civilian work and modern methods of production. In general the patrimonial industry of the Smolensk province had positive dynamics of development and achieved significant success during the period under study.
