Abstract

In this article the unpublished archive data from the funds of PFA RAN, RGB, RNB, GATO, TvGOM, providing an indication of the service, so-cial and scientific activities of A. K. Zhiznevsky (1819–1896), had been analyzed. A. K. Zhiznevsky was one of the founders of Tver Museum and the first chairman of Tver Regional Scientific Archive Commission. The professional and unprofessional historians were greatly interested in the activities of Tver Museum and TSAC, but still there is not anyone complex investigation upon the contribution of their leader in the development of these scientific and enlightening institutes – may be because of the scale and wideness of his interests. The mutual correspondence between A. K. Zhiznevsky and the academician Yakov Karlovich Grot’s (1812–1893) family not only presents the facts about the activities of A. K. Zhiznevsky as a chairman of Tver Official Chamber, but gives the evidences of the intensive and pithy scientific and cultural life in Russia in the second half of the XIX-th century.
