Abstract

This article is devoted to the main sources of information about the history of the Church revolution in Tver diocese. The author reviews all main types of historical documents used in the historical study of the Russian revolution of 1917 year. He concludes that to gain comprehensive data about facts and processes of the Church revolution one have to compare information from official documents, newspapers, and memories. Especially important for the history of Russian revolution are periodicals. Contending political forces were forced to face Russian Orthodox Church either as an ally, or as a competitor in the struggle for the influence in Russian society. This struggle was mirrored in periodicals, both secular and clerical newspapers.
