The author considers the endogenous and exogenous factors of the formation of cities in the territory of the European North-East of the USSR. It is noted that geological studies on the territory of the Komi region began long before the revolution, the construction of the North-Pechora railway line contributed to the formation of a city. An important factor was the forced migration, which caused the rapid growth of the urban population in the Komi Territory, it is emphasized that most of the cities of the Komi Republic grew out of camp centers. The author identifies the peculiarities of city formation that have arisen in connection with this: the violation of the order of creation of social and production infrastructure during the development of northern territories and the primary creation of production facilities to the detriment of the placement and organization of life of the first builders of northern cities.Downloads
