Abstract

In the article the personal composition of the secular institutions' officers of Tver in the early 1720s is investigated following the data from the first Russian Census records. The article deal with the pedigree and the family ties of the Tver Provincial Chancellery's officers and of the clerks who held various posts in the magistrate, in the department "of serfdom" and other places. Also information is given about the retired departmental of-ficers and about those sent to service from Tver to the other regions. Cen-sus records allow us to draw conclusions about the social composition and the nature of activities of the provincial bureaucracy during the completion of the reforms of Peter I.
