Abstract

The article is an analysis of modern historiography on the problem of gender relations in sub-Saharan societies of the African continent in the period from 1960s to the present. The author considers scientific articles and monographs published in XXI century, emphasizing the urgency and relevance of gender issues in modern African studies, ethnology and social anthropology. During the research key areas related to legal, economic, social, spiritual aspects of the relationship between men and women were identified. Particular attention was paid to African historiography, which received a powerful impulse for development in XXI century. In the conclusion, the author points to a small degree of study of a number of problems, as well as general trends in the study of problems of gender relations.
