Abstract

The article deals with the activities of the travel organization Community of students of Tver gymnasium (1902–1917), which was one of the prominent centers of educational tourism in Russia in the early twentieth century.To date, no comprehensive study of its history and contribution to the development of educational tourism has been undertaken. At that time, Russian pedagogy was actively developing methods of educational excursions. Travel organization society, under the leadership of the Director of the Tver gymnasium P. Chernyshev showed the successful example of the excursion activities, having made 14 big runs in the Tver region, the Crimea, the Caucasus, North-West, European countries etc. were Conducted and the active promotion of educational tourism, the published trip reports were of great interest in many regions of Russia and served as a way of transmitting successful experience.
