Abstract

The historiography suggested the antique, patristic and medieval political ideas connected with the averroist ones in Marsilius of Padua «intellectual arsenal». But it’s difficult to answer the question: was Marsilius of Padua the supporter of this philosophical system or not? The analysis of the treatise «Defensor pacis» illustrates Padau did not ignore the most interesting aspects of the famous «East sage» doctrine, but if he used some theses of Averroism he did this selectively. The identification of the «East line» on the level of sources in the political thoughts’ development in the first half of the XIV century opens the opportunities of future researches.
