In the work based on the protocols and records of Board of the Ministry of culture of the USSR, discusses the history of the creation and installation of the monument to I. A. Krylov in the city of Kalinin (Tver). These unique documents are now kept in the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art (RGALI). The decision to install the monument was made in 1944, and several discussions of the monument took place in 1954-1956. Archival documents indicate that there were changes in relation to the creation of monuments in the country no later than in 1954. The history of the monument to Krylov illustrates the changes in the views for the creation of monuments that existed before the thaw and at the very beginning. In addition, there are opinions about the monument to some of the leading figures of Russian culture of the period of the 1950s in the records of the meetings of the Board.Downloads
