Abstract

The article gives an analysis of the study of the cooperative movement in Russia in the pre-revolutionary period. The author outlines the stages in the development of scientific study of this unique phenomenon of the socioeconomic life of Russia at the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth centuries, characterizing each of them. In the article, the evolution of views on the role of cooperative organizations and, in general, the cooperative movement in the socio-economic and political processes of Russian history is consistently revealed. In particular, it is shown that cooperative historiography in our country began to develop in the post-reform period. The beginning of the twentieth century marked a new qualitative stage in the development of cooperative historiography. Soviet researchers viewed cooperation through the prism of the Leninist cooperative plan. At the present stage, the range of issues in the study of the history of the cooperative movement is constantly expanding
