A. A. Belyakov: a Regional Etnographer and a Teacher of Kelinin Pedagogical Institute

The article deals with life and scientific activities of Alexey Antonovich Belyakov (1901-1995) – a teacher of Kalinin Pedagogical Institute, a re-gional ethnographer, an expert in the history, ethnography and language of the Karelians of the Upper Volga region. His research work and private life were closely connected with dramatic events in the history of the Karelians residing in the Upper Volga Region. Belyakov took an active part in the process of creating the Karelian literary language and organizing a system of educational centers teaching in the national language for the Karelians of the Upper Volga region. These processes coincided with the establishment and dismantlement of Karelian National District. Tver Region State Archive made a survey of A. A. Belyakov’s creative heritage based on his personal archives.Downloads
