Abstract

In the article, the organizer activity of the Treasurer of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, Nikolai Fyodorovich Fan der Flit (1840-1896), a close associate of Vasily Nikolaevich Khitrovo, the founder of the Comminity, is presented. In the years 1884–1894. N. F. Fan der Flit was the head of the Russian Cjmpany of Shipping and Trade. The article focuses on the role of this entity in organizing trips by Russian pilgrims by sea to the Holy Land. Sources show that the pledged N. F. Fan der Flit tradition of pilgrimage support was maintained by this company in the subsequent time. The author shows the wide and successful charitable work of N. F. Fan der Flit, his work in the Zemstvo institutions of the Pskov province, as well as family ties with the Tver nobility, especially the family of the Pistol’kors, from which his wife was born.
