Abstract

The modern state of the national historiography, concerning agrarian re-forms in the beginning of the XX century, is characterized by a number of opposite assessments referring to the transformations. Incomplete character of the reform and impossibility of the proper assessment of its medium-term and long-term consequences contributed to the bitter controversy. In this regard, the study of the reforms’ regional peculiarities becomes especially urgent. The article analyzes the prospects of agrarian modernization in the beginning of the XX century in Tver province. Mobilization of the land property in the reform’s active years (1906-1913) is researched basing on the local archival and published materials. The given data testify about high interest of Tver province’s peasants for the land management’s process. This interest remained the same after 1911 year, and this fact contradicts with the conventional data of Soviet historiography.
