Abstract

In article on the basis of the analysis of written and archaeological sources medieval sites of water are considered and overland it is expensive from Vyshny Volochyok to Torzhok. It is established that the site of the road on river Tvertsa had a strategic importance, and the way on river Shegrа and along her had local value. Here in the territory, favorable for agriculture, which is for the first time mentioned in the chronicle under 1196 the population for which the churchyard of Shitovichi which is mentioned in the Novgorod birchbark manuscript No. 789 was administrative point concentrates. The analysis of data allows to claim that it as a result of interaction of local population and comers at the end of the I millennium AD Novgorod is nice in the basin of the river of Shegra process of development of culture of the Pskov long barrows into Old Russian culture is fixed.
