Abstract

To research the problem of reviving of the title of Grand Prince of Tver in 1576 it is important to study the location and origin of his land tenure. The Princes of Tver Princely house formerly had owned most of lands included into Prince Simeon’s udel. Part of the lands, in the north of the uezd, were probably connected with the former demesne of the princes of Tver because there ministeriales lands associating with servicing the princely economy were concentrated. Owning these lands accented title of «Grand Prince of Tver», and the title, in turn, defining Prince Simeon's land ownership. Most of the land tenure consisted of wastelands, without giving its owner any economic power, but at the same time making him one of the biggest landowners.
