Abstract

This article attempts to reveal specifics of upbringing of a noble girl. In addition, the role of mother in upbringing and the specifics of formation of the value system of noblewoman are considered. In spite of the fact that there were many upbringing agents in Russian noble families, many of noblewoman marked the main contribution of mother in formation of their character, which was made by way of demonstration of the normative model of behavior. The value system, handed over from mother to daughter, were based on the idea of matrimonial and reproductive role as the basic aims of being a woman. Girl brought up in the face of many prohibitions and restrictions. It makes her infantile and not confident. This put her at a disadvantage, making her more and more dependent – first in the parental home, and later after getting married
