The article is dedicated to the study of constructing the image of Turkey and the «Turk» as a historical neighbor, a rival and a victim of the World War I era in Russian satirical press of the early 20 century, as well as of hard and dramatic experience of overcoming the phobic components of this image. The main point and the actuality of this research and its practical task lies within the fact that this approach is to determine not only the sources the sources of the «language of enmity» in media sphere, but also those of its analytical deconstruction. Using the materials of magazine satire of 1914–1918 (the most popular and influential magazines in this area – «Novyj Satiricon», «Shut», «Bich») covering the events on Caucasian front, the author demonstrates the process of actualization - and then demythologization – of a number of «inherited» stereotypes and phobias towards the «Turks» and the Ottoman Empire that were present in Russian social consciousness.Published
