Situation of credit cooperation in Pskov region in the World War I

Abstract

The article analyzes the processes that influenced the development of the credit cooperative movement in the Pskov region during the World War I. The outbreak of war under threat of closure operations were many cooperatives. The outflow of deposits, and the members of credit institutions have been called to the front. Adapting to the new living conditions contributed to positive changes by the end of 1915. Cooperatives were able to significantly increase the volume of its operations: food shortages affected the appearance of supply and marketing functions. In addition, cooperatives have begun work on a favorable placement of deposits in other credit institutions. Realities of the World War I made it possible not only to continue the work of existing cooperatives and open new ones.
