The gold-silver lace XIII–XVIII centuries

The article contains a research results on a history of gold-silver lace in Western Europe and in Russia since the XIII century. Despite the fact that the metallic lace previously attracted the attention of Russian and foreign researchers, it has never been considered as a significant element of Europe fashion, first of all, the Spanish fashion. A study determines the timeline using gold-silver lace, typology of its patterns, studied variety of materials for its manufacture. Established methods of its distribution in the study period, including special trading features and a movement within the various social groups. Most attention was given to the gold-silver lace as a decoration of the Russian royal clothes and the history of its production in Russia. The focus of the study is placed on XVII century, because it is a really «golden age» of metallic lace.
