Planigraphy of old rus'' burial mounds of upper Volga basin of X–XIII centuries: features of the organization of sacred space

The article is devoted to the planigraphy of Old Rus' burial mounds of Upper Volga basin. The variants of row and group planning structure are revealed. They are caused by not only the landscape location and the development of necropolis over time, but also family and community structure. The examples of the fencing of the area of cemeteries and individual graves are revealed. They testify to the respect to these territories as a sacred space. Using the same area for cremations end of X – beginning of XI century and inhumation XI–XIII centuries, and visiting the cemeteries for a long time point to a continuation of this relationship for a long time. The height of the mounds of the male burials in combination with ornaments and weapons considered as a social marker.
