CONFLICTS AND COMPROMISES POLITICAL ELITE LONDON IN THE LAST QUARTER IN 1370–1380

The article is devoted to the problem of resolving social conflicts in the medieval city. On the basis of documentary and narrative sources analyzed the socio-political development of London in the last quarter of the XIV century, when the democratic opposition, led by draper, mercer and jewelers opposed victualler oligarchic regime, primarily, the fishmonger and grocers. Particular attention is paid to the period after the uprising W. Tyler. Then the "new patrician" and "old patrician" in the fight against replacing each other in power, fearing further destabilization prefer combat search for compromises. Using formational and civilizational knowledge methodology allowed reflect further socio-political dynamics of medieval towns and assess their impact on the formation of European culture. In conclusion, it is concluded that compromise and consensus, which were political elites and masses of citizens in medieval London for peace, became the most important and effective methods of resolving social contradictions and ensures stable prosperity.Downloads
