Abstract

This article is devoted to the strike movement in the Tver region during The First World War. The research is based on reports of police officers and other primary sources. Main subjects of study are moods, patterns, and forms of behavior of striking workers. Strikes took place in all main industrial centers of the region. The main causes of strikes were hard economical conditions of workers and poor system of food supplies, but often personal factor played its role, while political factor didn’t matter very much. Women and adolescent workers began to play special role in strike movement in this period. Also author studied religious factor and its influence on worker’s behavior. Sometimes religion assuaged conflict, sometimes aggravated it. Author scrutinized strong nationalistic sentiments widespread among workers of Tver regions.
