Abstract

The author reconstructs the ancient scribe’s representation of the location of Kievan Rus’ in the biblical worldview (the separation between the sons of light in November). Self-positioning of Kievan Rus’ was based on this cosmography set out in the Byzantine «Chronicle George Hamartolos», which was widely known in Kievan Rus and used to create «Chronicle of Ancient Years», ancient scribes in this creative process it.
