Abstract

The article is devoted to the emergence and development of the national ethnographic museum last decades of the nineteenth and early twentieth century. The role of museums in the development and promotion of ethnographic knowledge and fruitful participation of the Kharuzins family of ethnographers included three brothers and their sister in different areas of museology, their involvement to the scientific basis of plans and programs of ethnographic museums in Russia and abroad.
