Abstract

The topic of this research is funeral rite and paleoanthropology of Upper Volga`s Old Russian inhabitants by the Izbrizhie`s burial ground, one of the most studied Old Russian funeral tombstones in Tver region. Summarizing the results of research works on the topic of funeral rite and for the first time anthropological materials, authors came to conclusion that Izbrizhie`s materials had analogy in synchronous antiquity with Smolensk (saying about elements of funeral rite and women’s adornments) and Novgorod regions(comparing with household goods, weapons and ceramics). Another conclusion concerns the resemblance of Izbrizhie`s masculine part of population with the Novgorod`s masculine population in accordance craniological data. At the heart of the Izbrizhie`s community was offspring of Smolensk’s krivichy. But persons originated from Novgorod region added this commonness.
