Abstract

The article analyses preconditions of the typography development in Russian Province, describes legislative regulation of the establishing of the provincial typographies, traced the history of typography from the end of XVIII – first half of XIX century. Present research based on achievements of Russian scholars, legislative acts published in Comprehensive Col-lection of Laws of Russian Empire and archive materials from Russian State Historical Ar-chive and State Archive of Tver Region.
