Abstract

Author researches mass repressions against Christianity, Islam in Tatar autonomy mainly in 1937. In 1929–1930 about 60 % temples were closed down. The Great Terror took away (expelled) 35% of clergy only as counter-revolutionaries. 75 % of churchmen, convicted by NKVDs «troika», were executed. Only one church and 35 mosques functioned in the beginning of 1942 (1,3 % to 1929).
