Abstract

The article talks about the meaning of family in a life of a society in general and of Russian society in particular. Viewed as a certain kind of microcosm, the family appears as distinctive crossroads of social, economic, political and expressly demographic processes. Moreover, family in itself is analyzed as a certain “process”. A conclusion is drawn that final formation of family science as a scientific field would be much assisted by overcoming interdisciplinary and organizational differences of the researchers.
